St Catwg’s Church, Pentyrch

The history of Christianity within Pentyrch dates back to the years of Catwg (often called Cadoc or Cadog) in the early years of the 6th century. Catwg was then Abbot of the monastery at Llancarfan, and he or one of his followers set up a cell in Pentyrch. Consecrated in 1857, St Catwg’s Church is a Grade II Listed Building. St David’s Church, Groesfaen

Saint David’s Church, Groesfaen was consecrated in AD 1892 by the Bishop of Llandaff, and is the “daughter church” of St. Catwg’s in Pentyrch. There is an hypothesis that the Church was built by the local gentry to rival the church built by Judge Gwylym Rhys-Williams in Miskin. The Dunnes of Croffta and the Martens from Henstaff Court were the benefactors. St David’s serves as the Parish Church of Creigiau as well as Groesfaen. Service Times and Historical Details

St Ellteyrn’s Church, Capel Llanilltern

The present listed building dates from AD 1862 but the site is perhaps one of the oldest Christian religious sites in Wales, and incorporates the Vendumaglus stone dating back to the 5th century. The site is visited by Arthurians who consider that Gwenhwyfar (wife of Arthur) was buried there. It’s built in the warmest and most sheltered spot in the parish with is own spring nearby.  Service Times and Historical Details

CHURCH SERVICES

In our Parish we work hard to think creatively about our worship, so that it can hold the traditional and modern in a wonderful balance, thereby igniting a sense of God’s grace, joy and hope amongst us all.

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe you have received it, and it will be yours.”

Mark 11:24
