What is Christian Aid?
Christian Aid is a charity originally founded by British and Irish churches, to help refugees following the Second World War. For over 70 years, the charity has supported poor communities worldwide. Whenever there are major disasters around the world appeals are made by the DEC, Christian Aid is one of the 14 members of this organisation.
Christian Aid Week usually takes place in the third week of May each year. We have volunteers from all over the Parish, who put an envelope in hundreds of houses throughout our communities. After a couple of days, they knock on doors, asking people to return the envelopes with a donation.
How Have We Done?
Occasionally, volunteers are met with rebuffal on the doorstep, but they faithfully and resolutely carry on and often find people are very willing to be generous and are grateful for the effort the volunteers are making.
Christian Aid is a wonderful charity which helps people regardless of race, gender, creed, sexuality or ethnicity and we are proud to continue to support its work.
More information on the work of Christian Aid charity can be found on the Christian Aid Website and there is even the opportunity to donate directly from their website .
Although we have been collecting for this charity over many years, the past 5 years have been our best. These are the donations that we have forwarded to the Charity, in the name of the Parish of Pentyrch and Capel Llanilltern:
All of the above figures include Gift Aid. We hope that people from our Parish will continue to support this excellent cause, and thank you sincerely for all of the support you have given so far
